The Slambovian Circus of Dreams

Explore the depths of Americana “one trippy tune at a time” with New York’s Slambovian Circus of Dreams. Voted “Best Band” by NY’s Chronogram Magazine for their rootsy, rockin’ psychedelia, the Slambovians’ deep connection with audiences and exciting live shows are legendary. This Woodstock-tinged Americana has a hint of southern rock, British folk combined with solid songwriting – a slice of Americana pie that is irresistible! Dylan, Bowie, Syd Barrett, Tom Petty, and The Waterboys can be heard, yet the Slambovians’ musicianship and critically acclaimed songwriting stand on their own. Joziah (the resident shaman of Slambovia), leads with vocals described as “soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic.” Longtime bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and guitarist/mandolin wizard Sharkey McEwen bring their own magic to the Slambovian brew with “a little help from their friends” – RJ McCarty (keys, bass, sax), Bob Torsello (bass), and Matthew Abourezk (drums). The Ultimate Creedence Clearwater Revival & John Fogerty Tribute Show: Green River

The show is very faithful to a live CCR performance. Listeners enjoy a full 90-minute show of their favorite CCR classics (Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Up Around the Bend to name a few) and songs that Creedence would turn into live jams such as Born on the Bayou and Susie Q. The band also mixes in John Fogerty classics including The Old Man Down the Road and Centerfield capturing the energy of his current show. Buy Tickets

Dueling Pianos: Live at the Rex

What are dueling pianos? Dueling piano shows are request-oriented, interactive sing-a-long shows wherein two piano players sit across from each other and trade songs. For this show you can request as many love songs as you want. It has been said that a dueling piano show is quite literally “the most fun one can have with one’s clothes On!”I have to agree! It is a massive “to the top of your lungs” sing along with all your friends while drinking to excess! Two grand pianos are center-stage with a team of outrageously talented pianists that seem to know every song ever written. Buy Tickets

An Evening with Willie Nile

The New York Times called Willie Nile “one of the most gifted singer-songwriters to emerge from the New York scene in years.” His album Streets Of New York was hailed as “a platter for the ages” by UNCUT magazine. Rolling Stone listed The Innocent Ones as one of the “Top Ten Best Under-The-Radar Albums of 2011” and BBC Radio called it “THE rock ‘n’ roll album of the year.” Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Townshend, Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams, Jim Jarmusch, and Little Steven are among those who have sung his praises. His album, American Ride, won “Best Rock Album of the Year” at the Independent Music Awards. It appeared on over one hundred year-end Top Ten lists for 2013 and Bono called it, “One of the great guides to unraveling the mystery that is the troubled beauty of America.” In November 2014 he released an album of piano-based songs, If I Was A River, to universal critical acclaim. “One of the most brilliant singer-songwriters of the past thirty years” said The New Yorker. No Depression raved “Willie Nile’s artistic renaissance continues unabated. Buy Tickets

Our History

Originally a printing press, the Rex served as a movie theatre from the 1940s to 1980s. 1989 saw the end of the Rex’s life as a movie house. The property then changed hands several times, functioning as a series of nightclubs. In 2016, the building was purchased by the Manchester Development Corporation (MDC). The Palace Theatre Trust entered into a private-public partnership with MDC in October 2018 with the shared goal of reviving the Rex and opening the space as a theatre once again.

On October 30, 2019 we opened the doors of the Rex Theatre, a state-of-the-art, 300-seat performance venue. In the four months the Rex was open before temporarily shutting down due to COVID-19, we began to see the possibilities of this new cultural resource. This venue has added immensely to our existing performance capabilities. We look forward to experiencing the growth of the Palace Theatre Trust’s newest addition.
